Glorious pedalling to Navaluenga

Today's riding was up there with my all time favourite days on the bike. Beautiful blue sky, gorgeous views and roller coaster riding for 81miles and another 1566m of climbing.

The 1st 15 miles were on flattish roads with no head wind, so finally pedalled along at my 'normal' 17-18mph.
Our first photo stop was at another beautiful reservoir.

Coffee stop was at El Escorial where there is a royal palace. The route took us up above the town with great views of Madrid in the distance.

There followed a rather hairy descent on cobbles into the town, not exactly suitable for road bikes!
As well as coffee, I wolfed down cake, chocolate, tortilla and an empanada (yes, in that order!)
The Royal Palace was rather impressive

The glorious pedalling then continued to lunch - fajitas (I am very well fuelled today!)

As I rode into the destination town, I followed some gorgeous horses trotting along behind a car

Our hotel tonight has horses and beautiful rooms for the humans. Rusty was ensconced on the terrace with a beer and is now happily sampling the local vino tinto...
Anyone would think we were on holiday!
Just as well we didn't bring Arthur...
And to finish off a perfect day, we have just been watching dressage practice..
