Today involved 1383m of climbing including the Collado de Serranillos, the highest point of the trip at 1580m which divides North and South Spain. We plodded upwards for 2 hours and did the obligatory group photo at the top.
Of course I also had to take a photo of some beautiful horses.
The descent was chilly and tiring (hanging on to brakes is knackering!) but just stunning, sweeping 1000m down into southern Spain.
Unfortunately there was then some frustration and hangriness as the support van had to take a broken bike to a bike shop and the guides decided to make us regularly 'regroup' which my legs interpret as 'stop cycling and start hurting'. When we eventually got to the lunch stop, I wolfed down some food and pedalled off to complete the ride as quickly as possible.
The scenery is now much more southern, including palm trees.
Obviously some parts of the scenery do not change at the end of the day - happy hubby with a beer!
