Hello Spain

After a particularly demanding week of teaching, the 3.30 am alarm call wasn't exactly welcome this morning. Stansted airport seems to get busier every time we fly and I'm increasingly convinced that wheely bag pullers need driving licences. Security is always entertaining when carrying a saddle and pedals in a rucksack - 'are you going hiking?' was not the question I was expecting.
Amazingly the flight was on time and the  hire Ka for Rusty was successfully manoeuvred out of the multi-storey car park on the 'wrong' side of the road.
We headed for Getaria, a lovely little seaside town and started the culinary aka  eat as much yummy food as possible part of the trip...
Anchovy omelette
Sea bass
Gateau basque

As Big Bro would say, this is why I cycle!
This evening's hotel is in the hills above San Sebastián so a walk was needed after all those calories.
I'm now going to try to stay awake past 8pm and attempt not to get too worried about the 87miles of big ups and downs tomorrow 😳
